Contour Threads are the only non-absorbable barbed suture product cleared by the FDA for the elevation and fixation of midface, brow and neck areas. A Contour Threadlift™ utilizes tiny surgical sutures to lift and support the droopy areas of the brow, cheeks, face and neck. It is a safe, conservative and effective procedure that offers subtle, natural looking results. This procedure does not replace a conventional face, brow or neck lifts; rather it offers patients an innovative, minimally invasive approach.
Our Technique
A Contour Threadlift™ can be done in the office setting under local anesthesia (for the standard procedure) or in an outpatient surgery center under IV sedation (for the advanced procedure). The length of the procedure can vary depending on the number of threads placed and whether a standard or advanced procedure is used. Dr. Hunsicker will make tiny incisions within the hair line. Using a long needle, the threads are precisely placed through the incisions and passed under the skin into the area to be lifted. Contour threads™ have tiny, teeth-like (barb-like) cogs that will grasp on to and lift the soft tissues. Once inserted under the skin, they form a support structure that gently lifts and repositions the tissues into a more vertical and youthful position. With the lift effect secured, the needles are removed. The non-absorbable threads stay within the deep tissues and provide support.
In the advanced procedure, additional non-barbed threads are placed deep within the underlying muscles to support them as well as the skin.
After the procedure you can expect some minimal bruising and swelling with a standard procedure and moderate bruising and swelling with the advanced procedure. Pain and discomfort are very minimal with this technique and most patients can take only Tylenol for pain relief. Elevation and ice compresses are recommended for the first 24-48 hours to help with swelling. Dr. Hunsicker will initially leave the ends of the threads protruding for a few days to allow more refined lifting as the swelling dissipates. Within 2-5 days, the ends of the threads are trimmed and they retract into the skin where they cannot be felt or seen. Depending on the areas treated, patients should expect to take about a week off from work.
As with any surgical procedure, complications from a Contour Threadlift™, although rare, do exist. The specific risks, as well as suitability, for any given individual cannot be determined until the time of consultation. While we hope this information is helpful, it can not substitute for a consultation. We invite you to contact us at 720-283-2500 or online to schedule a consultation with Dr. Hunsicker. Together, you can determine if you are a good candidate for a Contour Threadlift™ as well as specific risks and complications that may occur.
